Congratulations to Mr. Larry DiSilvestro, Mrs. Julie Roncone, Mrs. Megan Fuga, and Mr. Andrew Erwin for earning their Google Certified Educator Level I credential. This achievement recognizes their commitment to using new collaborative tools in their classrooms. In order to pass Google's 3-hour exam, each teacher spent countless hours preparing. By earning this credential, they are joining Mrs. Kristen Bardelli, Mrs. Miriam Klein, and Mrs. Rachel McVeagh.

Cornell's 8th grade students recently visited the Inventionland, located in RIDC park. During the tour, students witnessed several unique work areas like a pirate ship, giant robot, tree house, and many more . Inventionland creates these areas in the hopes of inspiring the many inventors that work there. Students were also allowed to explore the state-of-the-art studios and watch a video on how an idea becomes a product. After completing a pencil-holder maker project, students ate lunch in the castle.

Alex Shemerdiak, was selected as the P.M Parkway West CTC student of the month. Alex is a first-year Parkway student enrolled in the Health Assistant Program.

Recently, the Key Club traveled to Washington DC to volunteer for Wreaths Across America. Students participated in wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery. Students fundraised throughout the year in order to participate in this event. A special thank you to Mrs. Miriam Klein and Mrs. Megan Fuga for sponsoring the trip.

Congratulations to Mr. Tavis Bogue’s Advanced Science class for winning “Most Efficient Reset” at the Carnegie Science Center’s Chain Reaction Contraption Contest.

For the second year in a row, Cornell had a great showing at the Three Rivers Educational Technology Conference (TRETC). Mrs. Rachel McVeagh had a packed session, for the third year in a row, “Classroom Innovation: New and Better.” Mrs. Amy Palo and Mrs. Miriam Klein teamed up to share resources from all of the projects they work on, “Digital Humanities.” Mrs. Susan Dunning and Mrs. Miriam Klein brought their Games for Change Champion girls to share their work in a poster session. Finally, Mr. Tavis Bogue’s Advanced Science students shared their chain reaction contraption as part of the student showcase. Mr. Bogue’s students were also interviewed by SLB Radio’s Youth Express.
